It’s one thing to write an article, and it’s another to make it popular, not to mention making it go viral.

As a technical writer myself, in as much as I love writing, I am also concerned about making my articles exciting and hopefully become popular. Having written articles for the likes of CNX Software, Electronics Labs, Gumstix, Upverter, PCBWay, and others, I have always wonder what makes an article exceptional.

What do users look for?

Is it the title sentiment
Is it the title sentiment?

Is it the title sentiment or the tone of that article, maybe is the number of images inside the article, or using more videos, or even keywords that drive users to the site in the first place. These are some of the things that daily hits me, so in this article, I dig deep to answer that question.

“What are the things that influence article popularity”

by combing subjective analysis called intuition and quantitative analysis. Also, this is an opportunity to show the potential of data science and how data scientists are going to be a significant professional as far as I am concerned. For this challenge, I am working on the online news popularity dataset that contains records of almost 40,000 articles posted on mashable in a period of 2 years.
